Live Healthy

At Tri City Dental Care of Cerritos, we’re committed to helping our patients live healthy, smile brighter, and take a proactive approach to their overall health. With increased awareness and overall health issues in the medical field, Dentistry has become even more integrated with our medical colleagues. In 2000, the US Surgeon General report* stated that oral health is essential to the general health and well-being of all Americans, and that oral health is integral to general health. This report provides important reminders that oral health means more than healthy teeth and that you cannot be healthy without oral health.

The Mouth-Body Connection

  • Heart disease

How does oral health affect the body?

Leaving chronic inflammation anywhere in your body will cause a reaction from the body. It’s this reaction that will affect your overall health and well being.

How can we treat the infection in our mouths?

We typically need to remove the infection or source of the infection. We can extract teeth, do gum therapy (“deep clean”), do fillings, root canals, and others to remove the infected area or source.

Why does it matter if my gums are inflamed or I have an infection?

Inflamed gums usually are a sign of infection. Gum disease is an infection and inflammation that affects the tissues and bone that support your teeth. Usually it doesn’t hurt, and when chronically left in your mouth, there is strong medical research, it can lead to worsening other systemic diseases.
